What to Expect at Your First Hearing Assessment

You can rest assured that your first appointment is all about you and your hearing wellness. Here’s how things will unfold:

A Warm Welcome & Getting to Know You

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team. You’ll have the opportunity to chat about your hearing history, lifestyle, and any symptoms you’re experiencing. This conversation helps us understand your concerns and tailor the evaluation to your specific needs.

The Hearing Evaluation: Step by Step

Pure-Tone Testing: You’ll put on headphones and listen for a series of tones at different pitches and volumes. Each time you hear a sound, you press a button. This helps us map out the softest sounds you can detect.

Bone Conduction Testing: For this part, a gentle headset rests behind your ear, sending vibrations through your skull to measure how your inner ear responds to sound. You benefit from a complete picture of where any hearing difficulties may be happening.

Speech Testing: Next, you’ll listen to spoken words and sentences at various volumes, sometimes with a bit of background noise, and you’ll repeat what you hear. This shows us how well you’re able to understand conversation in different situations.

Additional Checks: Sometimes we’ll also take a look into your ears or run other quick, painless tests to make sure we cover all the bases.

Discussing Your Results, Together

Once the tests are complete, you and your hearing specialist will review the results together. This is your chance to ask questions, share your reactions, and learn about any next steps or support you might want to consider.

You can take your time. There are no silly questions, only helpful answers.
